Ian Deary is Professor of Differential Psychology at the University of Edinburgh as well as Director of the Lothian Birth Cohort studies. He is a graduate of Psychology and Medicine from the University of Edinburgh, where he also took his PhD. He practised psychiatry in London and Edinburgh before moving to academic psychology.
This year's event is named in memory of Professor John Starr, our longstanding Board Member and Director of the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre who passed away last year. Throughout his research career John published over 500 papers, including citations on the Lothian Birth Cohorts, of which he was co-investigator from their inception.
