The Fabric Committee are here to maintain and develop the facilities here at Mearns Kirk. We are seeking help from you guys out there so we can maximise facilities for activity and minimise cost.
There are all sorts of work needing done. Some is very practical and is the DIY you need about your home. Some requires amateur surveying of buildings, contracting and overseeing the work done. And much more in between.
Commitment can vary from occasional half days, weather permitting, to a regular input. Training /supervision is freely available; as you might need.
At the moment we are looking in particular for someone to take on the responsibility of assessing the church or hall structure. This person will be part of, and report to, the Fabric Committee two monthly. Again training is available.
Less onerous tasks include painting, slab laying, plastering small areas, joinery, developing A-V facilities, pothole filling, rough gardening and lots more.
We are considering developments such as building a sensory garden for our Lunch Club with perhaps a coke-bottle greenhouse. This needs to be wheelchair friendly. We want to build on our commitment to be eco friendly so any expertise here would be great.
When you find the motivation to work with your church fabric just come in for a chat and coffee to see how we can work together. No offer is too small to help us and I hope none is too big for us to work on. Try us, I look forward to hearing of your challenge to help us here at Mearns Kirk.
