Our Sunday Club takes place every second and fourth Sunday each month which works well. We have a strong core of regular children and parents - at times more than a dozen which is great. Our lessons are guided by the lectionary and the bible stories brought to life with games, arts and crafts.
At Easter we had 18 children enjoying an egg & spoon race and then hunting for eggs all over our wonderful glebe – there was also egg rolling of boiled eggs down the slope towards Eaglesham Road. Thankfully the weather stayed dry although it was quite cool.
In May Sunday Club will meet on May 28th – and our very last Sunday Club will be on Sunday 11th June.
LUNCH INVITATION: To finish the year we are inviting all young families on 11th June to enjoy a lunch together after the service from about 11:30 until 1pm in our church halls. We hope to see as many children, parents and grand-parents as possible. Please let us know if you are coming – contact Eleanor or Marianne.
Our Sunday Club will say Good Bye to Joe on Sunday 11th – however his last Sunday Service will actually be one week later – on Sunday 18th June and it is hoped that many members will be there to give Joe a proper send off into his well-deserved retirement.
We will also say Good Bye to young Eilidh Fraser who has volunteered at Sunday Club since last November for her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. Eilidh used to come to Mearns Kirk Sunday Club herself with her younger brothers and it has been a delight to see Eilidh engage so well with the children. Eilidh’s help has been valuable and very much appreciated – the children have loved having her and we will all miss her cheery face. We also wish her well with all her upcoming exams.
HELP: The Sunday Club will also say Good Bye to Eleanor who is also “retiring”. Eleanor stepped in last year to help with the running of Sunday Club and she has been an absolute rock. Sunday Club now needs a couple of
volunteers to assist Marianne - can you be that person? Could you spare 1 or 2 Sunday mornings a month? Contact Marianne and find out more.
Our starting date after the summer should be the 2nd Sunday in September which is the 10th September, but this will be confirmed nearer the date.
Please pray for our Sunday Club and Mearns Kirk as we start a new journey without Joe who has travelled alongside us in faith for so many years and will be very much missed by all of us.
